Duo FHANG are readying the release of their forthcoming debut album, and today they’ve shared a video for their new single, “Something Real,” premiering now on Indie88.
“Something Real” is a hazy new shoegaze-style track that comes packed with unexpected instrumentals and deep grooves that are sure to bring you into a dreamy musical landscape. The accompanying video is full of surreal shots of the band performing beneath flashing lights, interspersed with clips of the pair sitting at a table.
“‘Something Real’ started with a crunchy caveman bass line, and this song was the first idea that led to the creation of this project,” FHANG’s Mishka Stein explains. “We’re calling ‘Something Real’ emergency lights discotheque. At the beginning of lockdown, when everything felt so insane, I would quietly dance in my living room with my Bluetooth headphones at 3am listening to a rough version of the tune. It would turn into a disco with all the fire trucks and ambulances lighting up our curtains.”
