Gaspard Eden has shared a powerful new video for “Nothing,” which comes from his forthcoming album, Soft Power.
“‘Nothing’ came to me in a very simple manner, which was to illustrate how pointless (futile) we act sometimes, without making any precise statement about it,” Eden explains of the track. “Absurdity have always been a thing for me. It is a source of inspiration both lyrically and musically. I think that ironically this song I wrote a while ago matches the moments we are currently living in, which is to stay at home and try to overcome boredom.”
As Eden sings of overcoming boredom atop an ethereal guitar line and driven percussion, we see the artist doing “Nothing” in front of flowers, drinks, and luxurious dishes. As the Charles O’Keefe-directed video progresses, eventually Eden destroys everything around him, punching cakes and pouring liquid on the floor.
