While readying the release of an EP this summer, Toronto artist Aidan Belo has shared a new single under the moniker His His called “Sweet Company,” premiering now on Indie88.
The sweet new track revolves around a sparse, rollicking guitar line, as Belo adds a melancholic twist with his stunning vocals.
“I wrote this song after the passing of my grandmother,” Belo explains. “For those who know me, they know my brother and I were essentially raised by our grandma. She was more of a mother than a grandmother. When I was growing up, I spent countless hours in her kitchen and living room, so the song was about returning to these places where she was no longer present. This song is an acceptance of what happened, a thank you to my grandmother for her presence and everything that she did for us, and that perhaps one day we’ll see each other again.”

“I tried to keep the recording process as simple as possible, using just a few mics in the empty space of an old barn on my family’s farm,” Belo continues. “I used the space to record the songs for my upcoming EP, but it’s since been filled with sheep and hay, so for future recordings I’ll have to find a new spot!”
His His is gearing up to release another new tune on May 6th.
