Indie88 Premiere: J.R.C.G. shares rich, futuristic new single ‘Rainbow’

Dreamdecay’s Justin R. Cruz Gallego has shared a new single as J.R.C.G., “Rainbow,” premiering now on Indie88.

Gallego recently signed to John Dwyer’s (Osees) Castle Face Records. “Rainbow” comes from Gallego’s forthcoming album, Ajo Sunshine, which is out on November 19th. The new single is an explosive, gritty tune that subverts traditional rock sounds. J.R.C.G. truly pushes his sound into new sonic territory entirely, with captivatingly experimental instrumentals.

“In the allure of nostalgia J.R.C.G. stands alone with his futuristic flavor of art rock,” Gallego explains. “Breathing new life into tradition, ‘Rainbow’ is no exception. Sonically dense with rich blown out drums and lush free flowing synthesizer ‘Rainbow’ pushes the genre to a modern edge while nurturing the spirit of Can, Pharaoh Sanders, and Eno/Fripp era collaboration.”

Listen to “Rainbow” below.

Ajo Sunshine “is heralded by an alarming horm ensemble, stabbing with the dramatic urgency of a killer’s theme in a midnight movie,” a press release explains. The forthcoming album sees J.R.C.G. exploring his own sonic palette entirely.

The album comes packed with field recordings from rodeos off Ajo Way. Ajo way is a stretch of highway that leads you westward out of Tucson Arizona and into the sun.

The dreamy album channels the subversive sounds of “Rainbow,” while continuing to push the envelope and explore something new.The album is a sort of whistful homage, as J.R.C.G. paints surreal pieces of scenes.
