Indie88 Premiere: Jiants are learning to let go with video for new track ‘Some Kind of Loser’

While gearing up for the release of their Wait Here EP, Toronto-based band Jiants, led by former pro-skateboarder Jesse Landen, have shared a video for their new track “Some Kind of Loser.”

The new psychedelic indie pop tune has an orchestral twist, with powerful strings and building instrumentals, as Landen delivers some explosive, psychedelic vocals. The accompanying video sees Landen performing the track on the porch at a cottage and by the water before the entire band takes to a sunset-drenched scene.

“Learning to let go of internal and external pressures is a continues learning process. Our new track, ‘Some Kind of Loser,’ was born out of a rough day in the studio that was followed by a band dropping out of an upcoming show of ours,” Jiants explain. “I was half joking around thinking about how much time and energy I’ve spent obsessing over music that barely anyone was gonna hear, but then it truly dawned on me how much I was doing it only for myself. I knew that I was going to keep making music, regardless of the results. This is a song that lets our pop freak flag fly. Committing to the addition of strings with the help of Drew Jurecka took the song to another level.”

The Wait Here EP is a concept collection, all revolving around feeling stuck in the same place for too long.
