Indie88 Premiere: Kate Clover shares new single ‘Love You To Death,’ announces debut EP

Los Angeles singer-songwriter Kate Clover has shared a new single called “Love You To Death.” Alongside the release, Clover has announced her forthcoming EP, Channel Zero, which is set for release on May 14th.

“Love You To Death” is a rampant, retro track with driven, gritty guitar-based instrumentals as Clover wails some doo-wop style lines over top.

“I really like the juxtaposition of a super doo-wop sounding song with darker lyrics,” Clover explains of the inspiration behind the track. “The Misfits are masterful at that. The subject matter of doo-wop songs are generally about desire and love. I thought it would be funny to sing from the point of view of a murderer.”

“This song came together very quickly,” Clover continues. “Brandon and I were sitting around playing guitar and we began writing it as a joke. It made us laugh so we fleshed it out within an hour. The recording process was just as fluid and fun. We recorded it down in Mexico City at Vesubio Studios. Our friend Johnny Davilla (Davilla 666) sings back ups in the chorus and before he sang his part he let out a very excited “woooooooo.” It made us all crack up so we kept it in the song. You can hear it in the first verse.”
