Riverfest Elora is expanding its celebration of new and indie music with a new record label called Dead Radio, Love. The label is based out of Elora and promotes new music in Elora, Guelph, Kitchener-Waterloo, London, Hamilton, Stratford and Toronto. To celebrate this new chapter for the small town festival, Dead Radio, Love is gearing up release a new album by Canadian indie-folk artist Lee Watson.
Jon Ralston, co-owner of Dead Radio, Love and one of the minds behind Riverfest Elora, explained that Watson’s music served as an inspiration behind opening the new record label.
“We started the label because we believed in Lee’s music so much that we knew it had to be produced and distributed,” said Ralston.
Watson’s upcoming album, Falling South has a Canadian moodiness to it, and pays homage to Neil Young’s visceral, backwoods sound. The record was also mastered by Neil Young’s engineer Chris Bellman.
