Indie88 Premiere: Left Field Messiah share groovy, genre-bending new track ‘Young Libertine’

Left Field Messiah, made up of Hot Hot Heat’s Steve Bays, Fitz and the Tantrums’ Jeremy Ruzumna, and Wildling’s Erik Janson, have shared a new track called “Young Libertine,” premiering now on Indie88.

Following the release of “Fuzz Machine,” “Young Libertine” is a groovy, genre-bending track that comes packed with almost psychedelic, blissed out soul instrumentals with a 90s hip hop twist.

“‘Young Libertine’ covers everything from Oscar Wilde to The Rapture,” Left Field Messiah explain. “We wrote it staring at a volcano covered in snow, dreaming of hot lava. ‘Young Libertine’ was an important moment for us because we landed on a new shade of LFM blue, combining early 90s hip hop tones and soul dance melodies splashed with some nice 80s pop moments. This is a song of firsts – rhyming libertine with figurine and x-ray machine with screen – and while our productions have been referred to as ‘maximalist,’ this is one of our more restrained moments.”

Left Field Messiah are gearing up for the release of their debut album, In Praise of Bombast, which is set for release on July 23rd via Riptide Records.
