Edmonton, Alberta-based singer-songwriter Marlaena Moore has announced a new album and shared a video for her single “Imposter.” The video was shot in her hometown of Edmonton’s West Edmonton Mall which comes replete with a boat and a waterpark and a shopping mall.
Moore will release her Chad VanGaalen-produced new album, Pay Attention Be Amazed next year. “Imposter” deals with Marlaena’s personal struggle with imposter syndrome.
“I need to constantly put on an act for people, I seem to change depending where I am and who I’m with, all the while being terrified of being seen for what I actually am,” she explained in a release.

“The concept for the video came from my obsession with West Edmonton Mall,” Marlaena added. “It’s such a strange surreal part of our city with so many magical nooks and crannies (like a freakin BOAT) I also was so delighted to work with the amazing hardworking folks at Magic Hour as well as the amazing styling’s of Lawless Vintage who made my dream of going down the Tropical Typhoon in a princess dress.”
Pay Attention Be Amazed follows Marlaena’s critically acclaimed 2016 record Gaze. Marlaena has supported accomplished acts such as Angel Olsen, Jennifer Castle, Julie and The Wrong Guys and Chad VanGaalen.
