Electronica artist Talltale has shared a video for her new single “Tennis Club,” premiering now on Indie88.
The dreamy new single has stunning vocals that almost feel reminiscent of artists like Japanese House. Talltale channels more of an upbeat sound on “Tennis Club,” with dance-worthy percussion and pulsing melodies. Throughout the track, she gets over a breakup by learning about love at the tennis club. In the accompanying video, she begrudgingly takes to a tennis court, getting hit in the face by tennis balls. She then stays after hours to keep practicing and sing along to the tune.
“I had been going through a rough time trying to get over someone, and I think in those situations you can get so desperate that you’ll try just about anything to distract yourself,” Talltale explains. “There are a lot of sad and serious songs written about this topic, so I thought it would be fun to do a more humorous take on it and write about joining a tennis club to get over the break-up.”

“It started with a loose lyric idea of ‘I Learned more about love in tennis club than I ever did from you’ (since a score of zero in tennis is called ‘love’),” Talltale continues. “And then I built out the song to keep – what I hope to be – an emotionally honest core, while encasing it with more tennis puns and a shimmering 80s synth-pop vibe instrumentally.”
The new single follows her previously released track, “Swimming Pools At Night.”
