Toronto-based singer-songwriter Taylor Knox has unveiled a pair of new live videos ahead of his upcoming show at the Garrison on December 8. Indie88 is pleased to premiere Knox’s videos for “Saturday” and “Didn’t Even Try,” which were both shot with Peter Dreimanis of July Talk.
Dreimanis spoke to Indie88 via email about his involvement in the project.
“Having lived in the same Toronto neighbourhood as Taylor for a few years, I became a fan of his music when he released his Lines EP in 2015,” Dreimanis told Indie88. “He shared his new record with me and I fell in love with it. I have so much respect for the scene of musicians he came up with, bands like Zeus, Golden Dogs and Forces. I thought it’d be cool to film a session with the band playing the tunes live off the floor.
“Leah surrounded them with party decorations and old TVs we found, and a bunch of talented friends (Jared Raab, Mike McLaughlin, Nick Tiringer and Calvin Hartwick) kindly came to shoot and record it for beer and pizza. It’s nice to look at a project like this as a time capsule that captures the Toronto scene at what feels like an exciting time to me. I feel lucky to be a part of that scene, and I hope people watching the videos can tell how much fun they were for us to make.”
