Indie88 Premiere: The Mellons share video for debut single ‘So Much To Say,’ announce new album ‘Introducing… The Mellons!’

The Mellons have shared a video for their debut single, “So Much to Say,” premiering now on Indie88. Alongside the track, the band have announced their debut album, Introducing… The Mellons!, out April 27th, 2022 via Earth Libraries.

“So Much to Say” is a retro tune with Beatles-style harmonies. The track feels reminiscent of a vintage, jangly indie pop. The sunny track is sure to bring you some light on a rainy day. Alongside the track, the band have shared a video. The video sees The Mellons performing in front of a blue background in matching suits.

“‘So Much to Say’ is a collection of feelings from childhood on up. Like everyone, I always long for deeper connections and richer relationships. ‘So Much to Say,’ is about how hard it is to do that, even when you’re giving it everything you’ve got,” The Mellons’ Rob Jepson explains. “Especially following the pandemic, I want it to remind people to be open to each other. This song is my way of saying, ‘I’m a person. You’re a person. Life is short and I want to be close to you.'”

“We created the video by the seat of our pants! Andrew is an outstanding visual artist and he took the creative reigns,” Jepson adds. “I ran logistics and prayed that we didn’t go over budget! It was a thrilling (and daunting!) challenge to put the song into a visual context.”

Introducing… The Mellons! is a perfect balance of a Beach Boys-style psych pop. The songs on the album feature everything from clarinets to violins to sleigh bells. Despite being packed with layered instrumentals, the intimate harmonies are always at the forefront of the album.
