Indie88 Premiere: The Steens share fuzzed-out debut single ‘What A Way To Die’

Orange County brother duo The Steens have shared their debut single, “What A Way To Die,” premiering now on Indie88.

The new tune is a perfectly fuzzed-out rock ‘n’ roll debut. “What A Way To Die” revolves around a rowdy, blistering, guitar-driven instrumental that’s sure to get you thrashing along. With gritty, yet powerful vocal lines and distortion-heavy riffs, you’re sure to find yourself listening to this raucous tune over and over.

“They say you can’t live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you,” The Steens explain.

Listen to “What A Way To Die” below.

The Steens were founded by infamous Los Angeles producer Justin Raisen (Lizzo, Kim Gordon, Charli XCX, Yves Tumor). Raisen produced their new EP. It was pretty easy for the duo to name their band, as their sound is “firmly planted in their roots,” according to a release.

“Someone suggested their band was like ‘the Black Strokes or something,'” a press release continues. “The Steens weren’t offended by the comparison but later stated, ‘The Strokes are great, but they’re a little polite, no? If we were gonna be the ‘Black anything’ and not ‘the Black Beatles’ can’t we at least be ‘the Black Iggy Pops.'”

Keep your eyes peeled for even more rowdy rock ‘n’ roll releases from The Steens in the coming months.
