Vancouver-based quartet Written Years have shared a heavy-hitting new track “Superficial Feeling.”
The new song was written during the recording process of Written Years’ forthcoming album. During that time, singer Wade Ouellet experienced a sudden and unexplained period of speech loss, preventing him from being able to speak for months. Ouellet spend many months in near-isolation as he worked on new material, working on getting his voice back.
“Superficial Feeling” mixes elements of pop, dance and rock into an emotionally-driven anthem. Following their debut single “Lost In You Now,” this latest track was mixed by Jason “JVP” VanPoederooyen (Mother Mother, Ill Scarlett) and showcases the next step for the indie alternative outfit.
Ouellet told Indie88 “This song really feels like something special to me and the next step for Written Years. It’s a corrupt little 2 a.m. love song about finding yourself in this strange world.”
