How’s your day so far? My neighbour left me muffins outside my door, and they are almost the size of my head, so today has started off well for me. Here’s another list of some things to check out while you hang out for the greater good (and thank you for doing that.)
Yes this is a shameless plug, but in addition to keeping you entertained and informed, I’m giving away $50 worth of fresh pasta from Dal Moro’s today. Be one with carbs with me!
I’m on air 1-5pm, feel free to call or text in to say hello 416-588-0881 and tell me how you’re doing.
Check out Matty Healy’s (The 1975) new Podcast
The 1975 frontman Matty Healy has launched a new podcast series on The Face’s website, and his guests are pretty epic. Check out his conversations with the likes of Stevie Nicks, Brian Eno, Kim Gordon, Conor Oberst and more, covering everything from no wave bands to emo to Fugazi’s influence.
Listen to Prince’s party mix
While you might be having more at home dance parties, why not check out what tracks Prince used to play at his house parties? When he appeared as a guest on an episode of New Girl in 2013, the plot was based around an event hosted by the artist. To make it more authentic, Prince gave the producers a playlist he used at his own Paisley Park parties. High fives to Jamie East who put the 22 tracks into a Spotify playlist for all.
Look back on some Banksy pieces
This week a new Banksy piece showed up in a British hospital to thank staff, and got me thinking of the artist. If you want a deep dive into his works, the Smithsonian has you covered.
Though you’ve likely seen Enter Through the Giftshop, have you seen $aving Banksy? The 2017 documentary explores the weird world of Banksy in America as some museums turn down his work only to see a New York gallery owner to monetize his street art by removing parts of walls around the world. While some cities consider graffiti a menace – threatening fines to property owners who don’t paint over it, others try to monetize it. It’s pretty crazy and may have you question: what decides the price of art?
Is knitting the new bread baking?
Look, I know everyone’s baking bread, but according to my Instagram some folks have transitioned to knitting. The last time I knit a scarf it was the shape of a chevron guitar. Might I suggest this free pattern for a Wonder Woman shawl?
That’s it for today, thanks for reading, and thanks for staying home. Sending much love to you and yours. And if you need more things to check out while staying in, dive into these:
