Interpol collaborate with David Lynch on new NFT series

Interpol are collaborating with David Lynch on a new NFT series.

Back in 2011 at Coachella, Interpol debuted their collaboration with Lynch. The collaboration was Lynch’s short film, I Touch a Red Button Man, with Interpol’s 2010 single “Lights” laid overtop. Now, that captivating, yet unnerving piece will take on a new shape.

Interpol have linked up with HIFI Labs to release a limited series of eight NFTs that fans have the chance to own. Lynch X Interpol will feature newly recorded renditions of “Lights” alongside Lynch’s animations. These new acoustic renditions see Interpol at their most poignant. The NFT is available here.

“What makes us so excited about this release is it memorializes the collaboration between David Lynch and Interpol,” Head of Crypto & Product at HIFI Labs. “Using Ethereum, these NFTs can live in eternity as artefacts of cinematic and musical history. Just as David Lynch’s career helped push the boundaries of film and even fiction, it is now extending into the permanent universe of blockchain.

Frontman Paul Banks on the David Lynch collaboration:

“The new performances are stripped-down renditions featuring [Interpol lead guitarist] Daniel Kessler on piano,” frontman Paul Banks says. “In the spirit of the fandom, we are glad to reveal that one of the eight NFTs will go to fans – for free.”

Fans can add their own creative touch to one of the NFTs in the 3D gallery, and one participant will be selected to take it home.

“To be frank, Interpol is crazy about David Lynch, and we are over the moon to have ever been able to align our name with his in an artistic forum,” Banks adds. “Humbly, we believe that as digital artifacts go, these are worthy of preservation in the infinite digital realm.”

Auctions for Lynch x Interpol start today, October 26th, and end on November 9th.
