INXS have announced “INXS Day,” which is a celebration of the 45th anniversary of their first live performance. In honour of the event, they’ve announced multiple vinyl reissues, a special livestream event, and more.
On August 16th, 1977, INXS (which was called The Farriss Brothers at the time) played their first show at a house party in Sydney. As part of the INXS Day celebration, they’ll be playing an hour-long livestream on TikTok.
The livestream is set to honour the 35th anniversary of their record, Kick, with a track-by-track feature, interviews with the band and producer Giles Martin, and more.
You can tune in to the INXS Day livestream on August 16th here. Check out the detailed info below.
More on INXS Day:
They’ll also be honouring the 40th anniversary of 1982’s Shabooh Shoobah with a deluxe digital box set. Out October 28th, the digital box set will make 15 tracks available on streaming services for the first time ever. There will also be a physical version available on clear vinyl with a Shabooh Shoobah t-shirt.
On INXS Day, their seminal performance in the states, which was a 1983 set at California’s US Festival, will also be pressed on vinyl as a live album.
If that’s not enough yet, they’re also set to celebrate the 30th anniversary of 1992’s Welcome To Wherever You Are with five high definition versions of music videos from the album. Then, on August 26th, INXS’s hits compilation, The Very Best, will be re-released with a new mix from Giles martin.
“What Giles has done is to not only recreate the original mixes, but now you’re blown away because you hear all this stuff that you just didn’t hear before,” guitarist Tim Farriss says.
