Is there anything Indie about the Grey Cup?

Some of the best indie moments from the Grey Cup

Is there anything Indie about the Grey Cup? When you look at past half time performers, the answer if no but this year might be a little different. Since the Grey Cup is in Saskatchewan on Sunday its no surprise that The Sheepdogs will be performing the pregame show. Sadly they lost out on a halftime slot to Hedley. Yuck! Serena Ryder will be singing the National Anthem and lets hope she does a better job than Burton Cummings last year.

His Yamaha sounds more like a Casio and that drum machine has to go!

Some notable past halftime performers include the Tragically Hip in 2004.

The Argos defeated the BC Lions 27-19 in Ottawa that year.

Sam Roberts shared the stage with Bryan Adams in 2003. I could only find a video of Sam Roberts from the Grey Cup Festival leading up to the actual Grey Cup.

The Eskimos beat the Alouettes 34-22 in 2003 and Saskatchewan hosted.

Honourable mention goes to Toronto’s own Dan Hill who performed the halftime show at the 80th Grey Cup. He was indie at the time. LOL.

Toronto hosted in 1992 at the SkyDome and the Stamps got a 24-10 victory over the Blue Bombers that year.

Since the Argo’s are out…I have to cheer for the Roughriders because of this wicked football fight song.

Green in the colour indeed. Go Riders! Who are you cheering for Sunday?
