Jack White has never been one to shy away from sharing his thoughts and opinions but during a recent Q&A on White’s website, things got pretty negative.
Recently Jack said that he was going to be taking a lengthy hiatus from touring, mostly because he’s unsure if those big tours are “worth it”. “I’d say half the shows i play i’d rather not play. festivals for example. but i have to make the best of it and try to get inspired,” White said.
“it’s hard when the people who organize festivals basically control my life … i have to book shows around their offer that i can’t refuse … it’s very expensive to tour … people think that’s how musicians make their money these days sadly, but it’s hard to on the road no matter what size you are … only seated theatres for acoustic shows for the rest of my days.”
Easily the most depressing anecdote was when a fan asked him, “what is something we might not now about you?” To which Jack replied, “that i don’t belong here, and most of the time [it’s] torture trying to find reasons to stay.”
To the hopeful question on the chances of The White Stripes reforming, White is doubtful, saying, “She (Meg) doesn’t answer her phone.” When someone else asked if he would perform with Meg again, White said, “Nope, that time is gone.” He’s also not counting on himself or the band being inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, when asked about it he replied with, “doubt it, and doubt it.”
Cheer up, buddy!
