Jack White has donated $10,000 toward restoring historic Negro League Hamtramck baseball stadium

Notoriously charitable indie artist Jack White has stepped up to the plate once again after donating $10,000 to help renovate the historic Hamtramck Stadium near Detroit, Michigan. The baseball park is one of the last remaining Negro League baseball venues in the U.S.

The legendary White Stripes frontman gifted $10,000 to a new crowdfunding campaign, which aims to restore the stadium, WDET reported. The initiative was launched by the crowdfunding platform Patroncity, and they’re hoping to raise a total of $50,000.

“Hamtramck Stadium is one of just five remaining locations where major Negro League teams once played their home games and represents a historic period in the Detroit community,” Friends of Historic Hamtramck Stadium founder Gary Gillette explained in a statement.
