Fun fact: Jack White used to be in a two-man band with his friend Brian Muldoon called the Upholsterers. Why the unique name? They were literally upholsterers.
A decade ago, the garage punk duo found their own unique method of releasing singles: secretly sewing copies into pieces of furniture the band members were reupholstering. It definitely wasn’t the most functional method – 100 copies were hidden, and so far, only two have been found.
White’s label Third Man Records just released the cover art for one of the singles on their website, done by Detroit artist Gordon Newton:
