A new trailer for Morbius is here, and it sees Jared Leto starring as a vampire.
The new flick was originally set for release on July 31st, 2020, but it’s now out in January of 2022. The movie revolves around doctor and biologist Michael Morbius (Leto) who is looking to cure his own rare blood disorder. He believes he’s found the cure in the blood of bats, and begins experimenting on himself. While he does cure himself of the disease, the experiment transforms him into a blood-thirsty vampire.
Not only does this high stakes flick look dark and moody, but it’s also connected to the Spider-Verse. In the trailer, Morbius features two immediate references to Venom. So, the Tom Hardy movies take place in the same universe as this new movie. In the clip, Michael Keaton also reprises his role as Adrian Toomes/Vulture from the MCU’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The trailer boasts even more callbacks to the Spider-Verse. Two cityscape pans feature the Oscorp and Horizon Labs buildings. Oscorp is run by Spider-Man’s archnemesis Green Goblin aka Norman Osborn. Horizon Labes is a competing tech company that both Morbius and Peter Parker worked for at different points in the comics.
The trailer also features a quick shot of The Daily Bugle. That shot teases characters like Rhino and Black Cat.
Morbius is directed by Daniel Espinosa. Alongside Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, and Al Madrigal star in the film.
Morbius is out on January 22nd, 2022.
