JEEN | Live From Home

Toronto artist JEEN has taken part in our recurring Live From Home series.

JEEN took to a warm studio setting to perform her new single “Maybe I’ll Be Gone” from her forthcoming album Dog Bite, out in October. The rowdy performance sees JEEN delivering silky vocals atop punky, rowdy instrumentals.

Originally, JEEN was the vocalist for Broken Social Scene side project Cookie Duster. She has also worked as a songwriter for Serena Ryder, Hawksley Workman, and more. Her band also features Change of Heart and C’mon’s Ian Blurton.

“Sometimes people just get used to you being around and assume you’ll be there no matter how they treat you,” she explains of the track. “‘Maybe I’ll Be Gone’ is a threat to leave after being taken for granted after too long.”

The forthcoming album goes beyond a pandemic record. It sees JEEN desiring more, as she peels away from feelings of isolation and yearns for connection.

We’ve had some pretty amazing Live From Home performances over the past few weeks. Renowned acts like Tyra Jutai, Dooms Children, BREEZE, BROS, and Mountain Head have taken part in our recurring series. Check them all out here!
