Jeff Tweedy announces deluxe edition of ‘Love Is the King,’ shares cover of Neil Young’s ‘The Old Country Waltz’

Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy has announced a deluxe edition of his 2020 solo album, Love Is the King, out December 10th via dBpm Records. In celebration of the announcement, he’s shared a cover of Neil Young’s “The Old Country Waltz.”

The forthcoming record is called Love Is the King / Live Is the King. The live record sees Tweedy backed by a band made up of his sons, Sammy and Spencer Tweedy, alongside Liam Kazar, James Elkington, and Ohmme’s Sima Cunningham. The record was recorded at Wilco’s Chicago studio the Loft and Chicago venues The Hideout and Constellation.

Today’s preview of the album sees Tweedy and his backing band covering Young’s “The Old Country Waltz.” The country-tinged cover comes packed with stunning harmonies, as Tweedy’s distinctive croons take the lead. The cover was released alongside a tender video, where the band performs from The Hideout.
