Jeff Tweedy shares cover of the ‘Ted Lasso’ theme song

Jeff Tweedy has covered the theme song for Ted Lasso.

The popular, yet divisive Apple TV+ series follows Jason Sudeikis who plays an overly positive American football coach hired to coach British Football, a.k.a. soccer. The show is close to wrapping its second season, and today Apple Music released its soundtrack. The original score is by Marcus Mumford and Tom Howe.

Instead of Mumford’s rendition of the theme, this season’s soundtrack has a new version by Jeff Tweedy. The Wilco frontman adds a softer acoustic ballad twist to the Ted Lasso theme.

Tweedy recently celebrated his 26th anniversary with his wife with a demo of a new song, “In A Sad Kinda Way.” The track is a lo fi single with intimate guitar lines. Tweedy’s vocals are soft and tender on this gritty recording. “In A Sad Kinda Way” is a pretty vulnerable tune that’s sure to get you emotional.

The Wilco frontman is no stranger to covers. In addition to this Ted Lasso cover, Tweedy recently shared renditions of Japanese Breakfast’s “Kokomo, IN” and Roky Erickson’s “For You (I’d Do Anything).”
