Jeremie Albino releases bluesy new EP ‘Past Dawn,’ shares video for ‘Acre Of Land’

Toronto artist Jeremie Albino is back with his new EP, Past Dawn, out now via Good People Record Co.

The new EP sees Albino honing in on his refined, bluesy sound. The six tracks on Past Dawn were recorded over the quarantine in 2020. Produced by Shovels & Rope’s Michael Trent, Jeremie Albino explores themes of love, loss, and home.

“I couldn’t get in a room with anybody and rehearsals with the band kept getting pushed back…In February of 2020 I had been on tour with [award-winning duo] Shovels & Rope and I know Michael Trent produced his own records,” Albino explains of Past Dawn. “I’ve been a fan of theirs for a long time. It just made sense to reach out and see if he was down to work on something from abroad.”

Alongside the release, Albino has shared a video for the collection’s “Acre of Land.” The Past Dawn opener was written with Wild Rivers’ Khalid Yassein at a backyard BBQ.

“For the past couple of years,” Jeremie explains, “all I seemed to be writing about were songs about missing the road and rethinking my life path in general. It felt like my future was up in the air and all I could think about was what I want in life and the future. Acre Of Land is my effort to share that feeling – about impatience, loving the road, missing home and wanting to settle down.”
