John Prine in critical condition with COVID-19 symptoms

'And know that we love you, and John loves you'

American singer-songwriter John Prine is currently hospitalized with coronavirus symptoms, according to a statement from his family. The 73-year-old was intubated and is in critical condition after he developed symptoms over the weekend.

Prine’s family shared an update on Sunday night, asking fans to send love and support as he faces this situation.

Prine’s wife Fiona also tested positive for COVID-19 earlier in March. Prine was tested as a precaution but his early results returned “indeterminate.”

Prine was diagnosed with squamous cell cancer in his neck in 1998. He returned to writing and touring after following treatment and a year of rehabilitation. In 2013, Prine paused his career again to undergo surgery on on a “non-small cell carcinoma.”

Let’s hope Prine can endure another difficult health situation.
