Do you swear by streaming music and movies? Well, there’s finally a streaming service in the live music scene – kinda.
Jukely Unlimited, an app that promises unlimited concerts for a once-a-month payment, has just launched in Toronto after its growing success in sixteen other cities. For $25 a month, users can go to as many shows as their heart desires — granted that the shows are partnered with Jukely. But there’s no shortage of things to see: everything from Sufjan Stevens to Jessie J to Passion Pit are listed on Toronto’s page of upcoming concerts.
The app also boasts a social feature: it’ll match you up with other users who have a similar taste in music and suggest you go to shows together. Or, you can upgrade to Jukely Unlimited Plus for $45 a month and bring a friend to the shows instead.
You won’t see the biggest names on Jukely: smaller venues hosting smaller acts are the more popular selection. That way more bands get the opportunity for exposure, and venues get the chance to fill the room. In the past, they’ve included artists as well-known as Chromeo, Waka Flocka, Questlove, and Tyler, The Creator, and as new as Thugli and Toro Y Moi.
Along with Toronto, the service is live in New York, Chicago, L.A., and more. And if Jukely isn’t yet offered in your city, you can put your number on a waitlist and they’ll let you know when it is. To learn more about Jukely check out their website.
Will Jukely rock or flop in Toronto? It’s hard to know for sure. All we say is that if streaming is the future, and if Jukely is anywhere near as addictive as Netflix, it’ll definitely be here to stay.
