Kacey Musgraves is set to voice Earwig’s Mother in Studio Ghibli’s forthcoming animated feature, Earwig and the Witch.
The film, which is directed by Gore Miyazaki (From Up on Poppy Hill) with planning from his father Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away), will see Musgraves joining Richard E. Grant and Dan Stevens, who will all lead the English language voice cast.

On top of landing her debut voice acting role as Earwig’s Mother, Musgraves will also record the English language version of the movie’s theme song, “Don’t Disturb Me.”
The forthcoming film is based on Diana Wynne Jones’ (Howl’s Moving Castle) children’s lovel of the same name, and it follows Earwig (Taylor Paige Henderson), who is forced to live with a selfish witch.
Earwig and the Witch will be Studio Ghibli’s first entirely computer-animated feature, and it’s set for release in North America in early 2021.
