Kacey Musgraves urges police to stop using rubber bullets on protesters

According to a study, 3% of people die from the use of rubber bullets

Kacey Musgraves is amongst more than 645,000 people who have signed a Change.org petition that urges the police to ban the use of rubber bullets.

“There have been various occurrences where peaceful protestors have been shot with rubber bullets by the police, despite them doing nothing wrong to begin with,” the petition reads. “Multiple people have been majorly injured from these rubber bullets!”
 


Several protestors and journalists have been hit by the projectiles, including Halsey, who was hit with rubber bullets while protesting in Los Angeles. “We were peaceful hands up not moving not breaching the line. they opened fire of rubber bullets and tear gas multiple times on us. citizens who were not provoking them.”

According to Kaiser Health News, the use of rubber bullets can kill, blind, or injure victims for life. According to a study in 2017, 3% of people hit by the large bullets considered “non-lethal” by the police department died of their injuries, and 15% were permanently injured.”
