Kanye West reportedly considered quitting rap because ‘it’s the devil’s music,’ announces new album release date

'Jesus Is King' drops on October 25

Kanye West has announced that his new album Jesus Is King is set for release this Friday. Over the weekend, his pastor Adam Tyson revealed that West considered quitting rap because “it’s the devil’s music.”

In an interview with Christian media group Apologia, Tyson says that after he was “saved” by Christianity, West thought about quitting rap. “One time, he told me that he wasn’t going to rap,” Tyson explains. “I said, ‘Why not?’ to which Kanye replied: ‘That’s the devil’s music.’ I said, ‘Hey, man. Rap is a genre. You can rap for God.'”
