Karen O Announces Her Solo Debut

After 14 Years Of Leading Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Karen O Goes Solo

Karen Lee Orzolek, aka Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O, is releasing her first solo full-length record on September 9th entitled Crush Songs. It’s a lo-fi bedroom recorded record that will apparently sound similar to the Her soundtrack cut “The Moon Song“.

The album will be released through the Julian Casablancas-lead label Cult Records, and this is what she had to say about the upcoming album:

“When I was 27, I crushed a lot. I wasn’t sure I’d ever fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They were the soundtrack to what was an ever continuing love crusade. I hope they keep you company on yours.”

We haven’t received many other details other than the album art which can be seen below, but keep an ear out for new material in the near future.
