Kaytranada shares new ‘Intimidated’ EP featuring collaborations with H.E.R., Thundercat, Mach-Hommy

Kaytranada is back with his new EP, Intimidated, which features some pretty big collaborations.

His last album, Bubba, came stacked with collabs, so it’s no surprise that he’s continuing that trend. On Intimidated, Kaytranada links up with H.E.R., Thundercat, and Mach-Hommy.

Kaytra’s H.E.R. collaboration, “Intimidated” is a danceable, beat-driven track that sees H.E.R.’s quintessential silky vocals at the forefront. As the tune progresses, it explodes into a club-ready bop.

Fans have been speculating about what the Thundercat-Kaytranada collaboration would sound like since it was announced. “Be Careful (feat. Thundercat)” is definitely not a let down. The artists find the perfect balance between their sounds, leaning into Kaytra’s electronic sound and Thundercat’s funky soul groove.

The Mach-Hommy collaboration, “$payforhaiti,” is the smoothest of the three new Kaytranada tracks. The song feels like it could be played anywhere from a hip art gallery to a packed club. Mach-Hommy’s deep, throaty vocals at a new dimension to the track.

Intimidated marks the first release from Kaytranada since he won the 2021 Grammy Awards for Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Dance Recording.

In December of last year, the artist shared a short film for his Bubba track “Look Easy (feat. Lucky Daye).” The clip for the BUBBA track is inspired by Japanese yakuza cinema. It only features brief cameos from Kaytranada and Lucky Daye at the end of the almost-six-minute video. The captivating new short film is scripted in Japanese and English, with accompanying English subtitles.

Prior to that, in February, he shared a video for the album’s lead single, “10%,” which features Kali Uchis. The Steven Isaac-Wilson-directed clip stars Kaytranada and Uchis as they take to a fun-loving dance party.
