Kurt Cobain’s MTV Unplugged Guitar sells for $6 Million

Most expensive piece of memorabilia

Kurt Cobain’s famous 1959 Martin D-18E, has sold for $6 Million at a Los Angeles auction.

Fans will remember the guitar from the 1993 MTV Unplugged performance, which was released as a complete album almost a year later.

The auctioned item has broken six world records, including most expensive guitar and most expensive piece of memorabilia.

The winning bid was from Peter Freedman, an Australian bidder, owner of Rode Microphones. Freedman plans to use the guitar as part of a worldwide exhibition tour, with proceeds going to those struggling in the performing arts. No word on if or when the exhibition tour will come to Canada at this time.
