Lana Del Rey returns with second album of the year ‘Blue Banisters’

Lana Del Rey is back with her second album of the year, Blue Banisters.

Del Rey’s eighth studio album serves as the follow-up to March’s Chemtrails Over the Country Club. On Blue Banisters, Del Rey channels her quintessential ennui, as she sings of everything from Zoom to Target. This new album sees Del Rey at her most playful yet. The 15-track collection ranges from delicate instrumentals to powerhouse wails, making for a dynamic record.

This new record features previously released singles like “Text Book,” “Blue Banisters,” “Wildflower Wilfire,” and “Arcadia.”

The album was originally set for release on July 4th, until Del Rey pushed it back last minute.

“Album out later later… Single out soonish. Have a good fourth x,” Del Rey wrote on Instagram. On the bright side, the post was a video that teases a new track. In the clip, Del Rey sings along to a slow, piano-driven track. “My body’s a map of the lake/ Stand straight like an angel,” Del Rey sings.

Blue Banisters was originally announced shortly after Rock Candy Sweet. That album was supposed to drop on June 1st, but its release was also pushed back.

In March, Del Rey claimed that Rock Candy Sweet will challenge accusations of her “cultural appropriation and glamorizing domestic abuse.”

“Just wanted to say thank you again for the kind articles like this one and for reminding me that my career was built on cultural appropriation and glamorizing domestic abuse,” Del Rey wrote in an Instagram Story, citing a Harper’s Bazaar article. “I will continue to challenge those thoughts on my next record June 1 titled Rock Candy Sweet.”
