If you haven’t seen the new video for Arcade Fire’s “We Exist”, then this headline may not make a ton of sense. It features The Amazing Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield as a transgender woman who falls victim to a violet hate crime and dreams her way onto the Coachella main stage. This was Arcade Fire’s way of making a pro-LGBT statement on a huge scale, but Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace isn’t buying it. As a transgender woman herself, she tweeted:
Dear @arcadefire , maybe when making a video for a song called "We Exist" you should get an actual "Trans" actor instead of Spider-Man?
