Last week the world was shook by the news that prolific poet and songwriter Leonard Cohen had passed away.
Cohen died in his sleep after falling in his L.A. home November 7th. His death was “sudden, unexpected and peaceful” manager Robert B Kory said in a statement posted to the Cohencentric website.
“Leonard Cohen died during his sleep following a fall in the middle of the night on November 7th. The death was sudden, unexpected, and peaceful. He is survived by his children Adam and Lorca, and his three grandchildren Cassius (Adam’s son), and Viva and Lyon (Lorca’s daughter and son).“
A small funeral was held for Leonard Cohen at Mount Royal Cemetery in Montreal Monday, November 10th.
Cohen’s son, Adam wrote on Facebook last week “With only immediate family and a few lifelong friends present, he was lowered into the ground in an unadorned pine box, next to his mother and father.”
Thousands of Torontonians gathered in Christie Pitts to tribute the legendary Canadian Wednesday night to pay tribute. The crowd sang along to a number of Cohen’s songs, as directed by Choir! Choir! Choir!.
