Listen: a rare recording of previously unreleased 1989 Green Day track ‘Stay’ has surfaced

The track was formerly referred to by fans as 'World vs. World'

The 25th anniversary of Green Day’s Dookie took place earlier this month, and now a rare recording of a live performance of their previously unreleased track “Stay” has surfaced online.

The shockingly clean recording dates back to Green Day’s opening show for Killdozer at Berkeley Square in 1989. Originally, fans dubbed the track “World vs. World” until their original drummer John Kiffmeyer revealed that its true name was “Stay,” and it was written for an indie movie that was being created by frontman Billie Joe Armstrong’s brother.
