“We pretty much learned from the reaction of the first record that we could get away with whatever we wanted musically.” Yes Gus, yes you can.
Today, Alt-J has shared the third track off their forthcoming album This Is All Yours called “Every Other Freckle”, and it sounds more like the Alt-J we all know and love than “Left Hand Free“. The track builds to a series of smooth beats and heart pounding sounds, playing with harmonies and interesting lyric arrangements.
During its premier at BBC Radio 1, keyboard player Gus Unger-Hamilton talked about the addition they’ll be making to their live performances; a multi-instrumentalist will be taking the stage with the trio on their up-coming tour. “We’ve all really missed playing live,” said Unger-Hamilton, adding that the trio recently met up with former member Gwil Sainsbury. “He’s great, we all hung out a couple of weeks ago – he’s really happy and no regrets.”
Plug in some headphones and turn this track up. Just try not to abuse the repeat button. This Is All Yours is out on September 22.
