Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and the National’s Aaron Dessner have announced a new album as Big Red Machine called How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last?. To preview it, the duo collaborated with Anaïs Mitchell on a new track called “Latter Days.”
Today’s track with Mitchell (of Bonny Light Horseman) marks the opener to the album. Revolving around a sparse, melancholic instrumental line, the track is sure to get you in your feelings. With soft whistles and heart-wrenching harmonies, this intimate tune is a perfect preview of the album.
Both Vernon and Dessner recently featured on Taylor Swift’s recent albums, Folklore and Evermore. Dessner has been dropping hints about a new Big Red Machine album since before folklore. Now, both worlds are crossing over, as Swift is set to feature on two tracks on the album.

How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last? marks the follow-up to their debut self-titled. Out in August, the collection will feature a slew of guests like Sharon Van Etten, Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold, Ben Howard, and more.
