Listen: Billie Eilish, Finneas break down ‘Everything I Wanted’ on ‘Song Exploder’

They talk the making of the first single after the release of her debut album

Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas have spoken about the making of “Everything I Wanted” in the latest episode of Song Exploder.

The standalone single, which was released back in November 2019, was Eilish’s first release since the release of her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Now, Eilish has broken down the track with Finneas.

Eilish revealed that the song was inspired by a dream she had the night before, where she died after jumping from a building. “The whole dream was me watching how everything went after I’d died,” Eilish explains. “I was there for it and I could see everything. I remember in the dream there were newspapers that said, ‘Problematic 16-year-old Billie Eilish has finally killed herself.’ And my best friends were doing an interview and they were like, ‘Oh, we never really liked her.'”
