Björk has released a new collaboration with Hamrahlíð Choir, which comes as an a cappella version of “Sonnets.”
The new track marks her second collaboration with her childhood choir, following “Cosmogony.” The new rendition of “Sonnets” is an a cappella version of the track, set to a poem by E. E. Cummings.
“I was myself in this choir when I was 16 and I think every single Icelandic musician you have ever heard of was brought up and musically baptized by this miraculous woman,” Bjork explains. “þorgerður is a legend in Iceland and has guarded optimism and the light in the tumultuous times that teenaged is. She has also encouraged and commissioned dozens of choir music from all of Iceland’s most prominent composers for half a century or so.”
