James Blake gave his fans the perfect weekend gift. Last night, he dropped his brand new 17-track album The Colour In Anything with not much warning at all.
Blake’s latest release hits a new level of maturity in his craft. The Colour In Anything is a remarkable fusion of Blake’s unique haunting chamber pop and experimental hip hop blend. Some gems you can find on this album include a soulful duet with Frank Ocean titled “Two Men Down” and a mellow collaboration with Bon Iver on “I Need a Forest Fire”.
We’ve been hearing snippets of Frank Ocean here as of late. But while we anxiously await his Channel Orange follow-up, The Colour in Anything might be his most involved work to date. Ocean shares several co-writing credits with Blake on the new album which was also produced by Rick Rubin.
