Born Ruffians are readying the release of their new album, PULP, this Friday, April 16th, and today they’ve shared a new single called “Checkin’ Out.”
“‘Checkin’ Out’ is about opting out,” frontman Luke Lalonde explains of the track. “It’s about all kinds of ways you can remove yourself. From simply spacing out, to leaving news cycles behind, to deleting your social media accounts etc… It’s about those moments of ‘this is all too much’ and surrendering.”
The gritty new tune revolves between rollicking riffs and driven guitars, as Lalonde wails, “Checkin’ out” over top.

PULP marks the third installment in a collection of albums, following April 2020’s JUICE and last October’s SQUEEZE.
“We didn’t set out to write a trilogy,” Lalonde adds. “We just wrote a lot of songs that we liked and it seemed a shame to bury any of them. So, early on in our recording process we looked at this great big list of all the songs and said ‘let’s break this up into three records: JUICE, SQUEEZE and PULP.”
Born Ruffians are also set to play two shows with Tokyo Police Club at Cityview Drive-in on May 28th and 29th.
