Bright Eyes have shared a melancholic new track called “Forced Convalescence.”
The new track, which was written by Conor Oberst and Nathaniel Walcott, opens with a slow, driven, steady drumbeat before Oberst’s gritty vocals come in. After the track makes its way through a somber melody, things turn around and a choir joins in, singing lines like, “In a daze/ In a doorway/ I stood crying for what was/ In a trance/ In a taxi/ Just keep driving, please don’t stop.”
The new tune also sees Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea delivering a powerful bass line.
