Listen: Brittany Howard covers Funkadelic’s ‘You and Your Folks, Me and My Folks’

As part of a Spotify Singles session

Brittany Howard has covered Funkadelic’s ‘You and Your Folks, Me and My Folks” and performed anew version her silky track “Stay High” for the Spotify Singles series.

The cover, which was recorded at East West Studios in Los Angeles, sees Howard offering up a modern twist on the 1971 funk track. Howard’s rendition comes at the perfect time, as she sings about helping each other when we’re in need, delivering lines like, “But if in our fears, we don’t learn to trust each other/ And if in our tears, we don’t learn to share with your brother/ You know that hate is gonna keep on multiplying/ And you know that man is gonna keep right on dying.”
