Calexico has shared a cover of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Plastic Ono band’s 1971 classic “Happy Xmas (War Is Over).”
Calexico’s rendition of the holiday single and protest song stays true to the original, with warm instrumental lines.
“I love this song, and I love the universality of the lyrics and the call and response sea of voices,” Calexico’s Joey Burns explains. “I decided to start as quiet as possible and find out how loud and massive we could make this song build.”
