Listen: Courtney Barnett collaborates with Anna Calvi for new rendition of ‘Don’t Beat The Girl out of My Boy’

'Hunted' is set for release on March 6

Anna Calvi has announced that she’ll be releasing a new, stripped-back rendition of her 2018 album Hunter, and today, she has released a rework of ‘Don’t Beat The Girl out of My Boy,” which features Courtney Barnett.

The reworked album, which will be called Hunted, is set for release on March 6th and features a variety of guests like IDLES’ Joe Talbor, Julia Holter, and Charlotte Gainsbourg. “During a break from touring I went back and listened to the first recordings I ever made of ‘Hunter,'” Calvi explains. “These recordings capture the very moment I first wrote these songs, and recorded them on my own, in my attic studio.”

Calvi and Barnett collaborate for the album’s lead single, which sees the pair taking the original tune and making a lo-fi, fuzz-filled reimagining.
