Listen: Courtney Barnett shares video for new track ‘Rae Street,’ announces forthcoming album ‘Things Take Time, Take Time’

Courtney Barnett has made her return with the announcement of her forthcoming album, Things Take Time, Take Time, out on November 12th via Mom+Pop. As part of the announcement, she’s shared a video for her new single, “Rae Street.”

The twangy, gloomy new track revolves around Barnett’s perfectly slack vocals and a droning guitar line. The accompanying video sees Barnett performing along to the track, teaching a kid to ride a bike, walking a dog, and more.

It looks like Courtney Barnett is going to really lean into her relaxed, country-tinged sound that feels reminiscent of Kurt Vile. The witty lyrics also shine on this tune, as she sings lines like, “Time is money, and money is no man’s friend.”

Watch the video for “Rae Street” below.

Things Take Time, Take Time marks the follow-up to the Aussie alt-rocker’s 2018 album, Tell Me How You Really Feel. It also follows the release of her free digital archive, which features career-spanning live performances.

The other tracks deal “unabashedly with love, renewal, healing and self-discovery,” according to a press release. Written over two years, the album sees Barnett at her most creative and most intimate. Courtney Barnett truly lets the listener into her private world on this album.
