As a little holiday treat, Dan Mangan + Blacksmith covered Lauryn Hill’s 1998 classic “Ex-Factor”. In a statement following the release of the cover, the Vancouver-based musician stated:
“I’ve always loved this song. I couldn’t think of having heard any covers of Lauryn Hill. Maybe it’s because she’s too amazing and I’m a fool and nobody really should cover Lauryn Hill, but this chorus has been in and out of my head since the 90s. It says so much with just a handful of words.”
Club Meds will be Dan Mangan and the band’s first full-length LP under the new moniker – Dan Mangan + Blacksmith. You can get it on January 13th via Arts & Crafts. In the meantime, check out their take on “Ex-Factor” below:
